How To Eliminate Air Bubbles in Minwax Polyurethane
Minwax Polyurethane provides an excellent finishing coat for newly stained furniture, hardwood floors, and other surfaces. The finish of these surfaces can be ruined, however, if the Minwax Polyurethane is allowed to form small air bubbles. Learning how to eliminate air bubbles in Minwax Polyurethane is important to making sure that you do not ruin a recently finished piece of furniture.
Using the Right Materials
It is important to use the right tools and materials when working with Minwax Polyurethane. You should have a flat metal pie pan, a high-quality foam brush, a can opener, a stirring implement, and sandpaper in both fine and extra-fine grits. You should be using water based Minwax Polyurethane. The foam brush is designed not to create bubbles in the finish.
Application
Always use a fresh container of Minwax Polyurethane as older cans will require thinning in order to prevent bubbles from forming. You should not do any touching up if the Minwax Polyurethane is still wet, but rather should allow for it to dry completely between applications. If bubbles form in the can, you can use the stir stick to gently mix them away.
You should never rush the application process when it comes to Minwax Polyurethane, otherwise you will run into air bubble problems. The foam brush should always become completely soaked with the Minwax Polyurethane before application in order to prevent bubbles from appearing during the application.
