How to Get Rid of Spiders In Your Basement Crawl Space

To get rid of spiders in your basement, you will need to follow some simple pest control protocol. Spiders tend to go wherever the darkest, messiest place is and the basement definitely fits this mold. Here are some easy ways to control the spider population in your basement.

Step 1 - Clean Your Crawlspace

Spiders enjoy privacy, so if they are given the opportunity to hide and build webs, they most likely will. Leaving things lying around will help to give them a nice home, so be sure to pick up any items in your crawl space that are not nicely enclosed in a secure tote. The less places they have available, the less chance they will want to stay.

Step 2 - Vacuum Your Basement

With spiders, prevention is the key. Vacuuming your basement once a week can help to prevent more spiders from being produced by eliminating any eggs that may be lying around.

Step 3 - Seal it up

Be sure to seal any windows or doors in your basement where the spiders may be entering. You can do this with caulk or spray insulation.

Step 4 - Apply Repellent

Once things are clean and sealed, spray a spider repellent in your crawl space. Available at home improvement stores, spider repellent is very effective in killing spiders. Be sure to read all directions and warnings before using the spray and to keep children away until the spray has completely dried.

Following these steps, you should have a crawl space that is clean and clear of spiders.
