A coat rack provides s a great way to free up valuable closet space in any part of your home. If you can't afford to spare the floor space that a free-standing coat rack would occupy, follow the instructions below to hang a wall-mounted version.
Step 1 – Determine the Location
The most important aspect of installing a coat rack is to make sure you firmly secure the rack to the wall. Ideally, it would be best to fasten the coat rack to a stud in the wall. Simply use a stud finder to mark the studs. Then measure the distance between the mounting points of the coat rack and transfer them to the wall. In most cases, you should be able to catch at least one stud.
Step 2 – Install the Coat Rack
Use a cordless drill and the hardware provided with the rack to secure it to the wall. If you can not find a location that has a stud, the best alternative is to use sheetrock anchors. Coat racks need to support a decent amount of weight, so it’s best to use heavy duty anchors rather than the smaller plastic anchors. You’ll need to drill a pilot hole to insert the anchor then install the hardware into the anchor for a long-lasting installation.
