Having a carpet wall in a room can provide a classy and cozy touch. Before doing this kind of project you will want to do some planning. For one, the carpet wall that would be put up must have a notable texture or eye-catching design. Otherwise, it would look more similar to wallpaper. Consider the position of the carpet wall. Once these issues have been settled, follow these steps.

Measure the Carpet Wall or Rug

Measure the height and width of the rug or wall carpet you would use. After that, compare the measurement to the area of your wall. Ideally, the carpet should at least have enough space away from the sides of the wall. If you need to cut the carpet, use the chalk to create a box that will serve as your guide. Use the utility knife in cutting the carpet.

Temporarily Hang the Carpet Wall

If your hall has a horizontal bar above it, tie strings on the two points where the carpet’s edges are likely to be hanged. If your wall does not have this particular feature, get someone to hold the edge of the carpet for you. Place the carpet on the desired spot and see if you are achieving the look that you want.

Staple the Top Side of the Carpet

Hold the carpet in place and attach its top left corner to the wall. Fix staples several inches away. Pull the fibers of the carpet on the side to ensure that the staples won’t damage your carpet. Flatten out creases along the way. To make sure that you staple it on a straight line, line the edges of the carpet with colored chalk.

Staple the Lower Side of the Carpet

Gently pull the carpet down. Make sure that it is completely flattened out before attaching its lower corner to the wall. As in the previous step, pull the fibers to the side and make sure that there are no creases in between staples.

Attach the Sides of the Carpet

Carefully staple both sides of the carpet.

Staple the Center, Windows, and Outlets

Try to draw an imaginary cross on your carpet wall to identify its center. Attach a staple to that point. However, if your carpet has a dark tone and you think that the staple wire would be very visible, skip this step. Instead, get on to inspect all the sides of the carpet to see if there are windows or outlets that are open. Seal these points with staples.
