Ceiling medallions are there to accentuate the design of a room and to add a little flair to ceiling appliances such as ceiling fans or chandeliers. They can usually be found in dining rooms or living rooms and can be installed easily.
Tools and Materials
Step 1: Remove the Chandelier
First of all, switch off the power in the main breaker to avoid electric shock. Then go up the ladder so you have access to the chandelier. Unscrew any screws or bolts holding the chandelier to the ceiling. Once it is free, you will see some wires attached. These wires should all be connected to one connector so to remove them from that connector and take down the chandelier.
Step 2: Installing the Ceiling Medallion
Get the wires from the chandelier and fit them through the hole of the ceiling medallion. Reattach the wires to the connector it was removed from. Then reattach the chandelier. Apply some caulk to the sides of the ceiling medallion that will come in contact with the ceiling. Press it firmly onto the ceiling. Then, screw the medallion to the ceiling with the screws that it came with.
Step 3: Finishing
Fill any gaps with more caulk and remove any excess caulk from the sides and let it dry. Sand any hardened caulk on the ceiling medallion that you may have squeezed out.
