Boat seat pedestals may need to replaced from time to time. The pedestal allows you to turn the direction you are sitting, and are great for fishing boats. You may need to replace worn out pedestals, or install new ones as you upgrade the seats.

Step 1 - Inspection

You need to know where the wiring harnesses and fuel tanks are located before you pick a location. This will save you from causing expensive damage by drilling in the wrong place. If you have marine carpeting on the deck you may need to pull this back to inspect for these components.

Step 2 - Make the Baseplate Hole

Use the hole saw set up on the drill with the stop gauge in place to create the holes for the center of the base plate.

Step 3 - Secure the Pedestal

Set the base plate on top of the hole you created. You can use the baseplate as a template for the rest of the screws you need to install for under the deck. Secure the pedestal under the deck using blind fasteners. Check behind yourself to ensure that all the hardware is secured, and you're done with the pedestal portion.
