Bow windows blinds are used on windows that are made in a curved manner so as to add to the aesthetic value of a house. The windows themselves are not curved, but are arranged in a manner that makes the overall structure semi-circular. You can install bow window blinds in a relatively easy manner by following a few simple steps outlined below:

Step 1- Take Appropriate Precautions

Since you will be using power tools for this project extreme caution is recommended. Only use these tools if you have the required expertise. This will save you and the equipment from damage. Make sure that you deploy the ladder on a flat surface to ensure stability and safety. In addition to these precautions, the use of gloves, face mask and safety glasses is also recommended to avert any accidents. Move on to the next step only after going through these precautions.

Step 2 – Taking Proper Measurements

You should ask someone to help you with this step. Make sure that you have a thick lead pencil in hand before starting. Climb the ladder carefully and place the curtain rod on the windowsill. Adjust and mark the position with a lead pencil for use later on. After you have done this, position the brackets on these marks and mark the positions for the anchors and screws. Make sure that this is done as accurately as possible. You can also use a carpenter’s level to properly level the curtain rod. Once these steps have been taken, its time to move on to drilling in the brackets.

Step 3 – Installing the Brackets

With an electric drill grasped firmly in your gloved hands and slowly apply pressure to drill pilot holes for wall anchors. Insert the anchors in the pilot holes by tapping them lightly with a hammer. When this is done, hold the brackets up to the wall and secure those using screws and an electric screwdriver. Make sure that this is done gently so that the anchors are not damaged. After installation, try moving the brackets to ascertain their level the stability. In case of a loose bracket, use the screwdriver to tighten the screw. Install these brackets on each windowsill as multiple windows make up a bowed structure.

Step 4 – Installing the Curtain Rod

This is the structure which houses the blinds. Install these via the method described in the instructions manual as multiple companies use different modes of attachment. Once the curtain rods are installed, slide in the track or rings to hang the blinds. Again, the mode of installation is different for different companies. Check the rod for stability and make necessary adjustments.

Step 5 – Installing the Blinds

Choose the blinds that suit the theme of your home. Mount them on to the curtain rods or tracks and operate them a few times to make sure they are functioning well. Then clean up the work area, put away your tools and enjoy the new look!
