Installing skylight covers can be a tricky job if you have never done it before. Here are a few materials that you will need, along with the steps to help guide you through the process.
Step 1 - Buy Cover
You will need to measure the skylights in order to find covers that fit. Typically you will want to purchase one that is about an inch or 2 longer on each side so that you have room to screw them in.
Step 2 - Cover Skylight
Use a ladder to access the skylights on the roof or walls of your home. Place the cover over the skylight and make sure that they are lined up so you do not damage while securing in place.
Step 3 - Secure
With the help of a partner, hold the cover in place and use a drill to screw in around the edges. Many of the covers will already have holes where you need to place the screws and drill. If your cover does not have preset holes, allow for a screw about every inch to 2 inches. Typically you will find that the cover has brackets attached that will allow you to secure around the edges without damaging the skylight.
These steps should allow you to secure a skylight cover and also take it off later if you are doing it just for the season.
