While rechargeable batteries are easy to find in electronic and hardware stores, it might prove to be considerably cheaper to manufacture such a pack yourself. If you create a battery pack on your own, you can build it specific to your requirements. Follow the steps below to successfully complete this project.
Tools and Materials
- Battery holder
- Rechargeable batteries
- Solder gun
- Soldering wire
- Harnessing Wires
- Electrical tape
Step 1 – Safety and Precautionary Instructions
When undergoing such an activity, it is best to follow some safety and precautionary instructions. Keep on hand a pair of rubber gloves and eye goggles, and work in a well-ventilated room when the solder gun is being used as the smoke from it can cause irritation to your eyes.
Thoroughly wash your hands once you have finished the soldering work as the gun contains lead, which is poisonous. You should also work in a well-lit room on a flat surface.
Step 2 – Purchase Components Required
Purchase all the various materials that are required as part of this activity. You can buy the battery holder from an electronic store. Since there will be many different types available, keep your requirement in mind as you shop, like if you need a holder to contain 2 AA batteries. Tools such as the soldering gun and wire are easily available from hardware and super stores.
Step 3 – Connect Solder Wires to Battery Holder
Connect the solder wire to the battery holder. If you want to attach them permanently, use a soldering gun. Ensure that you connect the wires to the correct terminals: the positive terminal should have a red wire, and the negative one should have a black wire attached to it.
Place the rechargeable batteries inside the holder, and make sure they are secure. You can wrap electrical tape around it to ensure the batteries stay in place. The amount of batteries required will depend upon the capacity of the battery holder.
Step 4 – Connect Battery Holder to Electrical Appliance
Finally, attach the wires from the battery holder to the electrical appliance for which the pack was designed. Simply connect the wires of the two components together. By this point in time, your rechargeable battery pack shall ready for use.
