Step 1 – Prepare
The first thing that you will need to do once you have all of your materials is to place them all nearby where you will be working. You will find that things will go much smoother if you are able to have all of your necessary materials nearby while you work. Make sure that your workspace is in an area that is well ventilated. You will also need to be able to reach all sides of your table with ease. Make sure that the drop cloth is laid on the floor surrounding your table before you begin. Put masking tape on the areas that you do not want the resin to be.
Step 2 – Clean
Your table is going to have to be completely clean before you begin. Once you have done this, you will need to mix 1 part white glue with 4 parts water. Make sure that this mixture is brushed evenly on your table so that all air pockets will be sealed. If you want any flat items on your table to be sealed, then you will need to do this right now. Allow this mixture to dry for about 4 hours.
Step 3 – Mix
Make sure that you read the package directions carefully so that you will know how to properly mix the resin. Measuring cups are in your best interest to get the most accuracy out of the job. Use only what you need. Make sure that you wear your rubber gloves to protect your hands.
Step 4 – Pour
Once everything is mixed properly, you will need to begin to move quickly. Pour out your epoxy resin on the table top in a zigzag pattern. You will need to do this until your entire table is covered. Use your squeegee to help get the resin to cover all parts of your table. For any hard to reach places, you will need to use your foam paintbrush.
Step 5 – Dry
Make sure that you read the instructions carefully so that you will know how long to let the resin dry. Not allowing enough time to dry can ruin all of your work. Once it has dried completely, you are ready to take off the masking tape. If there are any unwanted drips that do not come off with the masking tape then you can sand them off.
