Copper pipe fittings are something that you will easily be able to measure in your home. There are a few different ways that you can go about doing it. You can measure them with a string or some calipers and go online to find a chart that will give you the accurate measurements. You can also use a ruler or tape measure, but the measurements won’t be as exact.

Step 1 - Inside Measuring

If you are working with copper piping that has an exposed end, then you will need to get the pipe’s inside diameter measured. You will need to round off to the nearest 1/8”.

Step 2 - Outside Measuring

You can measure the outside circumference as well to determine the size of your pipe. Wrap your string around it and then straighten it, then measure. You will need a chart to be able to tell you what the size is with this one.

Step 3 - Fitting

Something that you can do specifically with copper pipe is to measure it by getting one pipe and inserting it into a fitting and then marking one of the ends. This can give you a more accurate measurement than a tape measure.
