How to Mount a Coat Rack on a Hollow Door

What You'll Need
Measuring tape
Weighted anchors
Working gloves

Mounting a coat rack on a hollow door can be a bit challenging but with the proper tools and materials you can do this job. To mount your coat rack, here is what you should do.

Step 1 – Measure the Width of the Holes

With the use of a measuring tape, measure the width of the predrilled holes in your rack. After measuring the width of the predrilled holes, use these measurements to calculate the exact place to drill holes on your door. To do this, mark the area for the first hole then measure across the wall to mark the distance to the second hole. Double check your measurements to avoid errors. Repeat this process until all hole locations have been marked accordingly.

Step 2 – Drill Holes on Your Door

Use the right size of drill bill to bore holes on the marked areas of your door.

Step 3 – Put the Screws

Insert the weight-rated hollow anchor into the holes of your hollow door then tap the heads of the anchors with a hammer to flush them into the wall.

Step 4 – Position the Rack

Hold the rack in position over the anchors and then insert the screws into each anchor. Tighten the screw to keep the rack in place.
