Paint tray

If you have a mundane white kitchen backsplash, you may decide to revamp the style by painting a brick backsplash onto the surface. This will look great and will also save you money on expensive materials.

Wash the Walls and Paint

The walls for the back of the kitchen will need to be washed down so they are clean and ready for paint. You will want to use Ajax or another type of cleaner so the walls are clean and will be ready for paint. With the black outdoor paint try to dilute it so the color is gray and add this to a paint tray and apply the color to the kitchen backsplash with a roller. Let the paint dry.

Add Tape

Now that the paint is dry, cut out strips with your tape so that they are the same size as a brick, around 4x7 inches. Place the strips onto the gray wall so they make a brick pattern.

Add Detail

Pour some of the red paint into one paint tray and the gray paint into another tray. With your sponge lightly touch the red paint and then the gray paint. Dab the sponge onto the surface of the wall to give the effect of a brick texture. Continue until the area is completed painted.

Add Finishing Touches

The last step is to add a coat of polyurethane on the backsplash. Apply one coat and let it dry, then apply another. Repeat this step two more times and your kitchen brick backsplash is complete.
