Suspended ceilings are a functional, clean looking way to finish any room. Unfortunately, they can look old and tired after a while. Follow these easy steps to clean a suspended ceiling grid.
Step 1 - Clean the Ceiling
You need to begin by removing the dirt, dust and grease from the suspended ceiling grid. To do so, you should use a good kitchen surface cleaner. Wipe it on all parts of the grid with a clean cloth. Finish by washing off with clean water, then allow to dry fully before proceeding.
Step 2 - Painting
Spread drop cloths all over the floor of the room. Put on safety glasses, a face mask and a hat to keep paint from dripping onto your head. Select a high quality paintbrush that is the same width as the suspended ceiling grids. Start by using a primer to help the paint bond to the metal more firmly. Cover all the visible grid, then give the paint a few hours to dry.
You’ll achieve the best effect if you use flat paint on the ceiling tiles and a semi-gloss paint on the suspended ceiling grid. One coat of paint is usually enough to cover but you can add a second coat for extra durability.
