Several different methods are commonly used to polish steel, from using a technique called "draw-filing" to purchasing and applying a special steel polish. Stainless steel appliances are a common fixture in houses today, so keeping them looking their best is important. To polish stainless steel items that are heavily scratched or stained, purchase special steel polish or cleaners. These products work the best to restore the item.
Step 1 - Wipe Steel Surface
With a damp cloth, gently wipe the steel surface to remove any excess dirt, grease or dust. You may also use a glass cleaner to remove excess water spots and dull surfaces before applying your polish.
Step 2 - Apply Steel Polish
With a microfiber cloth, apply steel polish in small concentric circles. Test the steel polish, by applying it on a small inconspicuous area on your steel appliance. If the cleaner causes no discoloration, use it on the entire appliance.
