A clothesline pulley is something that you can easily put up. You will find that a clothesline pulley is an excellent way to save on energy costs. Not only will you be able to save on your utility bills but you will be able to enjoy clothes and towels that dried in the sun.
Step 1 – Location
One of the most important things that you are going to have to keep in mind with your clothesline pulley is the location. Remember what you are going to have on the clothesline, when laundry is wet it is much heavier than when it is dry. Make sure that your clothes line is not too close to trees or other obstacles. The more open the area, the better it will be for your pulley to work accordingly. You should also keep in mind the location of where you will be getting the clothes from. It is important that you can easily have access to the clothes.
Step 2 – Pulleys
You will begin by getting both of the pulley mounting hooks secured into the proper locations of the structures you are using. They should be high enough up where your laundry will not sag too close to the ground. Put both pulleys onto their hooks. Your clothesline rope now needs to be threaded through both of your pulleys. The ends of your rope should meet at the bottom.
Step 3 – Rope
Each end of your clothesline rope needs to be connected to the clothesline tightening device. Pay attention that the rope is pulled as tightly as it can be so that there is very little sag. Trim any extra rope that is there.
Step 4 – Test Bare
You are now ready to test out your new clothesline. Before you put any clothing on the line, you should first attempt to simply pull it. Make sure it is not too tight where it cannot pull easily. Also make sure that it is not too loose where it will tangle upon itself.
Step 5 – Test with Clothes
Once you are sure that your clothesline is not too tight or too loose then you are now ready to attempt to use it with clothing on it. Do not overload it the first time that you use it. Pay attention to see if it sags at all as you go. If it looks like it is going to sag with just a small load on it, then you will need to go ahead and attempt to make it tighter before you put a regular load on it. Once you have the load on the line, pull it a few times back and forth and make sure that it does not give you any trouble. As long as it works in a way that you are comfortable with, then you are ready to use it regularly. Try not to overload your clothesline so that it can last a long time.
