If, like many other homeowners, you have a wall mount bathroom faucet in your home, you may be very happy with it. However, if you would like to improve on the appearance of your wall mount bathroom faucet, then you should consider removing it, and fitting another. Whatever the reasons that you want to remove your bathroom faucet from the wall, this is not a very difficult job, and you should be able to complete it with some basic home improvement skills and a few tools.

Step 1 - Turn Off the Water

Before you can begin to remove your faucet, turn off the supply of water. You could do this by using your wrench to turn the shut-off valve near to the bathroom, but you could also do it by going down to the main water supply and turning this off. Use your wrench to turn this to the "off" position, and then secure it using some pliers, to prevent others from turning the water back on while you are still working on the faucet.

Step 2 - Remove the Faucet Screw

At the front of the faucet, you should be able to see a small metal or plastic button. This is the insert. Pry it off using your utility knife. You should be able to see the faucet screw just behind it. Using your screwdriver, undo the screw, and place it to one side. Remove the metal bolt behind the screw.

Step 3 - Remove the Handles.

Once the metal bolt has been removed, use the screwdriver to take off the screws on the sides of the handles. If you cannot find the screws, try looking for a bar or connection which supports the handles away from the wall. You should then be able to pull of the handles.

Step 4 - Remove the Trim Plate

The plate covers the connection of the faucet and the wall. Unscrew the trim plate from the wall, and then pry it out of the caulking, using a flat-headed screwdriver. This should allow you to pull the plate away from the wall. It can then be placed to one side. Behind the trim plate is a large nut, known as the bonnet nut. Remove this.

Step 5 - Remove the Faucet Valve

You now need to remove the valve of your wall mount bathroom faucet. Take the socket, and place it over the top of the valve, pushing into the wall. Turn the socket, until you can hear it lock onto the valve. Use the wrench which comes with the socket to slowly turn the valve. This turn should be in a counterclockwise direction, loosening the valve. Once you have released the valve enough, you should be able to reach down and pull it out.

Step 6 - Take off the Faucet

Once the faucet valve has been removed, you can take off the remaining parts of the faucet. Look for screws holding the faucet head onto the wall and removed these using a screwdriver.
