How to Remove Coffee Stains from Clothing
There are many methods to remove coffee stains on a piece of clothing. A coffee stain can be the start of a bad day especially when the piece of clothing you are wearing gets stained just before you are getting ready for work or having coffee at a coffee shop. If coffee stains your clothing, do not fret. There are a few tricks you can use to get that stain out of your clothing.
Step 1–Use Warm or Boiling Water
Use warm or boiling water the moment a piece of clothing gets stained by coffee. It is the best remedy to remove the stain right away. If staining occurs at home, warm or boiling water is readily accessible. Use a microwave to heat up a cup of water and clean. If staining occurs in a coffee shop, request for at least a cup of warm or hot water. Place the clothing in a sink and pour the water at a distance of at least two feet. The warm or boiling water will remove the stain from the piece of clothing. Repeat the process until the coffee stain is removed in full.
Step 2–Use Detergent
Wash the clothing using detergent as soon as possible in case the coffee stain is still not removed. If it has dried up, try soaking the piece of clothing in water mixed with detergent. Leave for about 20 minutes before washing it up. Washing a piece of clothing as you usually do will remove the coffee stain effectively.
Step 3–Use a Small Brush
Place a small amount of liquid detergent on a stubborn stain and rub the detergent with a finger. Removing coffee stains can be quite tricky if they have been left unwashed for a period of time. If the stain is not easily removed, allow the detergent to stay on it for a few minutes. Use a small brush with soft bristles to brush away the stain. Rinse the clothing with water and leave it to dry.
Step 4–Use Other Stain Removal Alternatives
Use other alternatives to remove coffee stains. One method involves the application of commercial stain removers. These products can effectively remove stubborn stains. Place a sufficient amount of the stain remover on the piece of clothing and allow it to stay on the item for at least 5 minutes. Wash the piece of clothing afterward.
Another alternative is using baking soda. Place a sufficient amount of baking soda on terrycloth soaked in warm water. Use it to scrub away the coffee stain. Rinse the baking soda residue off the clothing.
Use white vinegar as well as it is an effective stain remover. Mix one teaspoon into a quart of cold water and apply it on the stain. As the vinegar loosens the stain, get a piece of paper towel or terrycloth and blot it. Repeat the process as many times as required.
