A skylight window adds a great dimension to any room where it is installed. With the skylight window plenty of natural light is allowed in for a much brighter room and less energy used. When the window is cracked it can cause not only water to leak through, but also cut down on the energy efficiency. Here are some simple steps to repair the cracked skylight window.

Step 1: Clean Skylight Window

Before doing any work to the crack in the skylight window make sure it is clean. Use some window cleaner and spray it on the glass. Use a soft cloth to wipe the window clean using a clockwise wiping motion.

Step 2: Apply Epoxy Sealant

A vehicle glass repair kit is perfect for the skylight window. Both are made of impact-resistant material with a tinted glaze on the top. Mix the epoxy sealer in the kit to the right consistency. Apply it to the crack with the supplied applicator.

WARNING: Wear safety glasses and a face mask while applying the epoxy to keep it from getting onto your face.

Step 3: Spread Smooth

Using the small plastic scraper you should smooth out the epoxy on the window. It should not be spread out all over the window, but confined to one area.

Step 4: Let Dry and Check

Let the sealant on the window dry and then check to make sure it will not leak. If it does not rain, pour a little bit of water on the window.
