A cracked soil stack can go from being a minor problem to a major one in a short amount of time. If you are in this situation and need to repair your cracked soil stack, here are a few quick steps that can help you.
Step 1 – Gain Access
The first thing that you need to do is gain access to the area. Many times, the soil stack will be located inside of a cabinet or hidden. You may need a screwdriver to remove any doors or panels that hide it.
Step 2 – Shut Off Water and Clean
Make sure that you shut off the water supply to the area so that you don’t have any trouble. Then, clean off the pipes so that you do not make a mess inside or out. Make sure they are dry before you begin working.
Step 3 – Apply Tape and Epoxy
Use electrical tape around the leak and wrap it a couple of times. If you still find that the leak is not sealed, you can use epoxy. Paint it on using a brush, typically it comes with one. Allow it to dry before touching and clean off any excess that may have gotten on the pipe.
