These windows can provide complete and total airflow whenever they are opened and can be shut quickly and easily to prevent any rain or wind from getting inside. There are not very many moving parts with these types of windows so repair on them is not something that is very difficult. You will simply need to have the right parts and knowledge the window operator.

Step 1 – Prepare
The first thing that you are going to need to do is look over your window and figure out which parts are going to need to be replaced and which can simply be repaired. Usually, the seal is something that is going to need to be completely replaced. Also look at the arm and see if it is broken or bent in any way. The crank is something that tends to become broken off or stripped. If the window itself is sticking, then you may simply need to apply some silicone lubricant to it.
Step 2 – Rivets
Once you have purchased the necessary parts and know exactly what it is that you are going to need to do in terms of repair, and then take a look at the rivets. The rivets are what hold your glass clips together. These rivets cannot be loose. In order to check how tightly they are in, take a firm grasp on your window and see if it stays in place when you move it slightly. If any of them need to be replaced, then you will need to use a drill bit that is about 2 millimeters big. You will need to take your time doing this to make sure that your frame does not get damaged as you go.
Step 3 – Disconnect
Once you have your rivets checked and tightened if necessary, you are going to need to get the operator mechanism disconnected from the actual stay bar. Some model jalousie windows are different than others; in order to do this for most of the models it is simple. You will need to get the window opened up all the way until the gap in your stay bar has been exposed. You will then be able to get to the operating mechanism to remove it. You will then need to get your window moved manually until it is at a working position that is good for you.
Step 4 – Replace
Once you have fixed the operator of your jalousie window, you are now ready to replace any necessary parts. Take the time to make sure that you lubricate any moving parts of the window. This will be something that will allow you to be able to keep the life of them for as long as possible. Even the parts that move that are not giving you any issues should still be lubricated to prevent trouble coming up in the near future.
