There will come a time you will need to repair the washing machine balance. This happens through normal use, but if not corrected can quickly lead to damage to your washing machine. Here are a few steps to follow to help repair a washing machine balance.

Step 1 - Check Level

Place a straight level on top of the washer to see how much off balance the washing machine is.

Step 2 - Level with Legs

Most washing machines come with adjustable legs in the front and the back. The front legs can be screwed either in or out to adjust for the correct height. The back legs are spring-loaded. A simple lift of the back end will reset the back legs. Once the back is lowered the legs will level themselves out.

Step 3 - Tighten Drum

There are times when washing machine drums will loosen because of it being unbalanced for a long time. Even after the legs are reset, the washing machine will still "walk." Check the drum to see if it is too loose. If so, then tighten it.

Step 4 - Keep Large Items Out

Large items that get spun to one side will cause loud knocking and shaking of the machine. Keep these items out and hand wash or dry clean them instead.
