Materials Needed:
Measuring Tape
Corrugated Paneling
Screws
Neoprene Washers
Claw Hammer
Drill
Caulk
Ladder
Step 1 – Measure
The first thing that you are going to have to do is find the area that needs to be repaired. You will then need to measure it out and see how large of a piece it is. Also, it is a good idea for you to measure out not only the height but the width of your corrugations. You will do this from the middle of one of the ribs down onto the other. This will allow you to make sure that the replacement piece that you get is one that is going to fit well.
Step 2 – Match Panels
Once you have the exact measurements down and know exactly what you need, then it is a good idea for you to go ahead and head down to the hardware store and get your replacement pieces. It is usually a good idea to go ahead and completely remove the old panel as opposed to just a piece of it. This will allow for a more smooth transition and a lot less cutting and measuring in the long run.
Step 3 – Replacement
Once you have the right amount and size pieces of metal that you need, it is a good idea to go ahead and make sure that you get screws that have neoprene washers. These work much better than nails. You will need to remove your old piece. If it already has screws, then simply use your drill to remove them. However, if nails were used, then use a claw hammer to get the nails out. Make sure that you put the old screws or nails in a place where they will not be lost or stepped on. It is a good idea to go ahead and throw them away as soon as you get them out.
Step 4 – New Panel
Once the old panel has been removed, you are ready to put in the new one. Make sure that whenever you are screwing the new panel into place that you do not screw it in too tight. These panels can easily be dented whenever they are being put into place if the screws are too tight. As for sealing the panel, use caulk as it is the best method as it is going to last you longer. Tape is easy to work with but is not going to last as long.
