Hanging cabinets are subject to a lot of abuse. They get slammed, pulled, and can just age with time. Fixing hanging cabinet doors is a simple job that anyone can do.
Step 1 - Check the Existing Hardware
A door that is tilted or not closing flush with the frame may need a simple hinge adjustment. Open the cabinet and determine the type of hinge. You should see of 4 screws on the hinge. 2 of the screws attach the hinge to the frame. The other 2 are used to set the depth and height of the hinge. Use a screwdriver to adjust them.
Step 2 - Replace the Hinges and Hardware
A common problem with hanging cabinets is that the holes for the screws become worn with use. To correct the problem, you just need to use longer or larger screws. Hinges also become damaged if the doors are subject to abuse. Replace any damaged hinges with new hinges.
Step 3 - Replace Cabinet Doors
If the cabinet door has warped with moisture or abuse, the only way to correct the problem is to replace the door.
