How to Repair Pre-Lit Christmas Tree Bulbs
A pre-lit Christmas tree is perfect for those who do not enjoy putting on lights. From time to time, you will experience bulb failure. When this happens, you might not need to replace the entire string of lights. Follow these simple instructions to repair bulbs.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement bulbs
- Light tester
Step 1 – Locate the Bad Bulb
Locating the bulb that is not working on your pre-lit Christmas tree is easy. When you find it, check that strand of lights to make sure other bulbs are working properly. This step will allow you to see other bulbs that are not working on other strands.
Step 2 – Using the Tester
Pre-lit Christmas trees come with a light tester. Place the bad bulb inside the tester. If the light comes on, that means you are getting electricity there. Check the bulbs around it. This will tell you if you need to replace other bulbs or the entire strand.
Step 3 – Removing Bad Bulb
Unplug the lights. To remove the bad bulb, simply pinch the grooves on the side of the socket and pull the bulb upwards. Do not pull too hard as this could damage the socket and even break the bulb. When done correctly, the bulb should slide right out.
Step 4 – Install New Bulb
Line up the grooves on the new bulb and the socket. Slide the new bulb in until you hear a snap. Plug in the lights. Your new bulb in your pre-lit Christmas tree should be working.
