Sliding shower doors generally consist of two glass panels that slide on a track. One or both of the doors has a handle that runs the width of the glass door which typically double as towel racks. They should not be used as an aid to get in and out of the shower; too much pressure on these bars can cause the glass door to shatter or at the very least loosen. You will need to repair the towel bar if it becomes loose.

Step 1 – Remove the Shower Door

Remove the lower guide rail, lift up on the shower door and remove it from the tracks, place the door on a flat protected surface.

Step 2 – Remove the Towel Bar

Carefully remove the towel bar from the door. This may require an L- shaped screwdriver if the screws are under the towel bar.

Step 3 – Replace the Towel Bar

Replace the screws and washer with new screws and washers; reattach the towel bar handle. Do not over tighten the screws.

Step 4 – Reinstall the Shower Doors

Hang the top wheels of the shower door into the top guide rail, tighten the lower guide.
