How to Replace a Garage Door Opener Battery

You do not need to call a professional and spend a lot of money to replace a garage door opener. More often than not, garage doors stall because its batteries are weak. If this is the case, all you need to do is to replace the batteries of the door opener.

Step 1 - Remove the Old Batteries

Most types of door openers have battery compartments located at the bottom part of the control box. To remove the old batteries, open the battery chamber and lift the old cells. If your garage door opener operates via remote control, you can remove the old batteries by simply sliding the door located at the back of the remote control. Other types of remote controls have screwed-in locks at the back so you may need to use a screwdriver to get the batteries out.

Step 2 - Replace the Batteries

After removing the old batteries, install the new ones in their places. Make sure that the plus and minus signs in your batteries match the plus and minus signs located inside the battery chamber. Remember that incorrectly installed batteries will not provide power to your door opener. Once the batteries are in place, close the chamber then test your garage door opener.
