You may need to replace your bathroom fan blades because the old ones are either broken, twisted or an unwanted source of noise. Follow the easy steps below to replace the blades of a bathroom fan.

Step 1: Unplug the Fan

To ensure your safety, unplug the fan and turn off the bathroom's switch at the mains before you start the procedure.

Step 2: Remove Fan Cover

Get access to the fan’s cover by standing on a balanced stool or table. If you see that the cover has screws holding it on, then use the drill/screwdriver to take it off. Otherwise, remove the cover by pulling it down a bit and getting access to the springs holding it. Push the spring inwards with your fingers and remove the cover completely.

Step 3: Remove Fan Blades

Locate the blades within the fan and use a screwdriver to remove them from the fan. Some fans will not have the blades attached with screws; in that case, refer to the product’s manual. The usual options are to rotate the blade counterclockwise while holding the base or just pulling it out.

Step 4: Attach New Fan Blades

Attach the new fan blades in the same place you took the old ones out. You will have to fasten the screws to fit it.

Step 5: Replace Cover

Put back the cover using the screwdriver or by just pushing it back into position. Test the fan at a low speed to ensure that the new blades are securely in place.
