An airbag sensor is a very important safety feature on your vehicle. Without the sensor, the airbags will not know when to deploy should you be in an accident. The airbag sensor will need to be reset whenever the airbag assembly has been repaired in anyway.
Step 1 – Look through Manual
Most vehicle models are set up differently. You will need to go through your owner’s manual to be able to tell where exactly the sensor is. Once you have found its exact location, you are ready to get to work.
Step 2 – Disconnect Battery
You will first need to get underneath the hood of your vehicle and loosen up the cable clamp nut connected to the battery’s negative terminal. Once you have done this, take the cable clamp completely off the negative terminal.
Step 3 – Reconnect
You will need to wait for at least five seconds to pass. Once it has, you are ready to reconnect the negative terminal. Make sure that the sensor reset by turning on the key switch in your vehicle. If the airbag sensor warning light has gone out, it has been reset. If you find that the light has not gone out, repeat the previous steps.
