How to Seal Pool Deck Pavers

What You'll Need
Pressure washer
Large bucket
Paint roller
Mixing tool

Sealing pool deck pavers is a critical step when it comes to intensifying the color of the pavers and preventing staining that naturally occurs from dirt and debris.

Step 1 - Prepare the Pool Deck Pavers

Before you can apply sealer to the pool deck pavers, you need to prepare the area by removing any patio furniture or outdoor décor. Thoroughly sweep the pool pavers to remove dirt, leaves and other debris that may be on the surface. To remove tougher stains, use a pressure washer. Allow the area to thoroughly dry.

Step 2 - Prepare the Sealer

Gather the necessary supplies for sealing the pool deck pavers. In the bucket, mix 1 qt. of xylene with 2 1/2 gallons of sealant. By incorporating xylene with the sealer as a thinning agent, you can ensure all parts of the pavers are covered. In addition, xylene will help the sealant dry faster.

Step 3 - Apply the Sealer

With the paint roller, apply a thin layer of the xylene-and-sealer mixture to the pool deck pavers. Allow this to dry thoroughly. Using sealer only, apply a second coat to lock in the top coat of sealer and add a glossy finish to the pool deck pavers. Allow the sealer to dry thoroughly, which could take up to 2 days.
