Make a Homemade Window Cleaner

Homemade window cleaner has several different benefits that you should be aware of. Not only is it much safer to use around your family and home, it is also much cheaper. You will save hundreds of dollars a year on cleaning products by simply using what you probably already have in your home. These homemade window cleaners will often do just as good of a job as the chemical filled products, and, sometimes, it works even better. Make sure that you are able to know as many different ways to make your own window cleaner as possible so that you will be able to know which one will work for you. You may be surprised and already have several different cleaners sitting right in your kitchen.

Step 1 – Container

The first thing that you are going to have to do is get the right container for the mix. You will want to have a spray bottle so that you can spray it onto your windows and mirrors as needed. Make sure that you get a spray bottle that can hold more than a little bit of liquid so that you are not always having to refill the bottle all of the time. Test out the spray bottle before you use it for this. The bottle cannot leak whenever it is sprayed as this will only cause a mess.

Step 2 – Ingredients

Once you have the proper spray bottle for the job, you can move on to getting the ingredients mixed together. Make sure that you mix them correctly so that they will be able to do the job as they should. You will need to mix equal parts of water, rubbing alcohol and ammonia. Usually, a good start is ½ of a cup each. Once you have gotten them mixed together as they should be, you are ready to pour them into the bottle.

Step 3 – Funnel

It is usually a good idea for you to mix all of the ingredients into a bowl or a cup before you pour them into the container. This way, you will only have to worry about pouring into the spray bottle once. It can be easy to spill so use a funnel when you are pouring everything into the spray bottle. Go slowly so that you do not spill any.

Step 4 – Bottle

Make sure that you label the bottle clearly so that it will not be mistaken for anything else. You can even add a little bit of blue food coloring so that it looks like window cleaner. If you do use food coloring, make sure not to use too much so that it doesn’t interfere with the ingredients. Whenever you use your homemade window cleaner, make sure that you use a lint free cloth or a paper towel to clean it off with. You can even use newspapers if you wish. They leave even fewer streaks and are always easy to come by and cost less.
