Beveled glass windows give any home an added charm. There are pre-made beveled glass clusters for you to arrange and form into a pattern. But, if you want a more personal beveled glass window, designing them is just as simple.
Step 1 - Enlarge and Print
Scan the picture of your choice for your window theme: this will be your design. Enlarge it to fit an 8 x 11 piece of paper, and then print it out. You can choose to print it in color or in black and white, but the latter accentuates the lines better. Drawing your design is also a good option if you don’t have any photographs of your choice pattern.
Step 2 - Trace the Lines
Put the enlarged copy on a light box, or a window with a good amount of light coming through. Place a blank paper over the printed sheet and start tracing the outline of the picture. Make additional creative lines to enhance the pattern. See to it that the lines are easy to cut into beveled glasses. Once you are done, trace the lines again and make sure there are no impossible lines to cut.
Step 3 - Cut out the Design
With a pair of scissors, cut the paper around your design, leaving just a little paper surrounding your element. You now have your design focal point.
Step 4 – Add the Finishing Touches
Get another piece of paper and draw the box that will resemble the window you are designing for. You may use more than one paper for this. Tape your focal point on the area of the window where you want it to be. Don’t glue it right away: you might want to change the position of the element. You can draw borders and other elements around your focal point to improve your design. For color assignment, you may color your patterns lightly, or you can choose to place legends on every shape of your design.
