For a healthy yield, sun exposure, temperature and rainfall are essential climatic factors. Climate is the dominating factor in the plant growth. Over 50% of the growth and development of the crop is determined by climate. That being said; let us analyze the effect of temperature on plant growth, and learn how to measure the optimal amount of sun exposure for that perfect crop. Temperature and crop growth and development (subsequently production) are directly proportional. To accumulate maximum amounts of dry matter, it is essential to maintain optimum levels of temperature. High night temperatures assist in growth of the shoots. Botanists have designed a method to measure the optimum level of sun exposure for healthy plant growth. The method, which utilizes the light meter, is comprised of Spectral UV irradiances to plant leaves, UVB exposures to plant leaves and UVB exposures to plant leaves over extended periods. The results indicate synthesis of essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals like flavonoids, Vitamin B, A & C for healthy human existence.
