Many speaker cabinets are equipped with removable grills. Being able to remove the grills makes it easier to clean and maintain your cabinets. However, difficulties can arise as you are getting used to removing and replacing the speaker grill. Read the following instructions to learn how to mount a speaker grill on your speaker cabinets in 3 simple steps.
Step 1 - Purchasing Materials
If you are reading these instructions, chances are that you have already purchased speaker cabinets. If you have not, purchasing a speaker grill at the same time that you purchase your cabinets will be simple enough. Once you find speaker cabinets that suit your needs and your aesthetic, you can usually purchase a speaker grill at the same establishment. Try to find a speaker grill that matches the look of your cabinets. It will look tidier, and provide the room the cabinets will be in with a certain cohesiveness.
Step 2 - Becoming Familiar with Your Cabinets
Examine your speaker cabinets and speaker grill. There should be four prongs on the back of your grill. They will be in the corners of the grill. On your cabinet, there should be four holes in the corners. The prongs on the grill will fit together with the holes on the cabinet, attaching the grill to the cabinet.
Step 3 - Mounting the Grill
Once you are familiar with the positioning of the holes and prongs, pick up your grill and line up the prongs on its back with the holes on the cabinet. Be careful as you do this: you do not want to touch the sound cones in the cabinet, as this could damage them. When the prongs and holes are aligned, simply apply pressure to each corner so that the prongs pop into place. Be sure to apply enough pressure that the prongs will be securely in place, but do not apply so much pressure that you damage your grill or cabinet.
Never attempt to force together a grill and a cabinet that will not seem to fit together. As you attach and detach the grill from your speaker cabinets, you will get more accustomed to the process and your personal cabinets and grill. Once you have developed a familiarity to your speaker cabinet and grill, you will not have to worry so much about how much force you are exerting. However, when you are first installing the grill it is imperative that you are as cautious as possible.
Once you've completed the preceding steps, you're done. Remember to take the proper safety precautions when performing any maintenance on your speakers. Do not attempt to remove or mount the grill while the speakers are in operation. If possible, disconnect the power from your speakers before attempting to work on the cabinets. Keep in mind that in order to make your speakers perform optimally for as long as possible, you should read any manuals that came with the equipment you purchased in addition to your reading online.
