Plastic patio tables are economical, but can start looking dull, faded and dingy quickly. Refresh your plastic patio table in five easy steps for a look as nice as the day you bought it.

Step 1 - Clean the Table

Hose off any dirt and debris, and remove any old paint if the table has been painted before. Wash with an ammonia-based cleaner to get all the residue off.

Step 2 - Prepare the Surface

Lightly sand the plastic patio table to remove any shiny finish that will interfere with paint adhesion. If the table is new, wipe down with paint thinner. Remove any dust from sanding with a tack cloth.

Step 3 - Prepare the Area

Choose a well-ventilated area and lay down a tarp or drop cloth to protect the surrounding surface.

Step 4 - Paint the Plastic Patio Table

Using a paint specially formulated for plastics, such as Krylon Fusion or vinyl dye, apply several light coats of color.

Step 5 - Let the Paint Dry

Curing time varies according to the paint used. Let the paint dry for the full period suggested on the product label to ensure a lasting finish on your plastic patio table.
