Pea gravel can add a unique appearance to your landscape. The use of pea gravel to substitute traditional forms of landscaping is an idea that is catching on for amateur and professional gardeners. Using pea gravel as a landscaping tool does not mean the end to a healthy green lawn. There are other areas of landscaping that pea gravel can beautify.
Pea gravel can be used to substitute areas of your landscape that traditional mulch is placed. The benefit of using pea gravel in mulch areas is that effectively allows moisture to get to your plants. Pea gravel can also reduce the rate of evaporation of the water. Mulch, on the other hand, can trap moisture within the mulch itself and not allow water to get to plants.
If using pea gravel as a mulch replacement, be sure to use perforated plastic or a shade cloth to help the gravel control weed growth in your flower beds. Because of the coarseness of pea gravel, weeds can grow at will through the gravel.
Beautify a Pathway
Instead of just a plain pathway in your lawn that takes away from the beauty, adding pea gravel in the pathway can add a simple elegance to your lawn.
