Pressure Assisted Toilets Explained

Are you frustrated by the waste residue being left in your toilet bowl after you flush? If so, it might be time to consider a pressure assisted toilet.

Popular in Public Restrooms

You have probably used a pressure assisted toilet before, even though you may not have been aware of it. They are more common in public restrooms, and are identified by the signature air-based sucking sound they make when they are flushed.

Unlike traditional toilets, pressure assisted toiled rely on forced air rather than gravity to rid the fixture of waste. In addition, instead of water being in the bowl, there is an inner tank. That is where the water is stored and dispensed when flushing occurs. Pressure is supplied by a local water company; there are no pumps.

High Cost, Better Result

Although they slightly more expensive than the usual gravity toilet, pressure assisted toilets do a better job of clearing the bowl of residue simply through the use of forced air.
