Removing a Ballpoint Pen Stain from your Skin
A ballpoint pen stain can become quite a pain to get off of your skin. There is no need to worry about it causing any health risks, but they do look unpleasant. Soap and water are usually not able to completely remove these stains. Below are some tricks to ensure that you are able to get the ink off completely.
Step 1 – Prepare
You may want to start by washing the area that has the ink stains. Stain removal tends to work better once the area has been cleaned well. Get your nylon scrubber and hold it under running water. The water should be fairly warm as this will get the ink off better. Once the scrubber has been wet thoroughly, you should get your dish soap ready for the next step.
Step 2 – Soap
Once the nylon scrubber has been wet thoroughly with warm water, move on to the soap. Get a bottle of dish soap and squeeze a few drops onto the scrubber. You should not have to use very much soap to get this job done. Once you have gotten the soap on the scrubber you, rub it in to get a good lather going.
Step 3 – Scrub
Get your nylon scrubber once you've established a good lather and place it on the ink stained area. You will need to moderately press down onto your skin and scrub the area. Depending on the stain, it may take a little while to get it off. Don't hurt yourself while scrubbing, but still remember to apply pressure to make sure that the stain is gone.
Step 4 – Rinse
After the stain has been scrubbed thoroughly and the stain is gone, you can rinse your hand off with warm water. Be sure to rinse off the scrubber as well. Leave the nylon scrubber out to dry. You should then rinse off the area to rid it of the dish soap. After you have done this, you should use regular soap to ensure the area is clean. Have a towel handy to dry yourself off.
Step 5 – Prevention
To ensure that you will not have this problem again there are a few things that you can do to prevent getting a stain on your skin. Always remember, if the pen leaks on the paper, throw it out, because it’s going to leak on you too. Another way to prevent this is to not hold onto the pen when it is not in use. Sometimes you can forget you are holding it -- that is when it can wreak havoc. If you are left handed, sometimes ink can rub off on your hand while you write. Get a clean sheet of paper and place it over the paper you are writing on. This way the ink will rub off on the paper and leave your hand clean.
