Rigging Sand Shrimp for Salmon Fishing
More and more anglers are using sand shrimp as bait because they not only work well but are also easy to attach to the lines. Here is a step by step guide on how to rig your fishing lines with sand shrimp.
Step 1 - Preparing the Shrimp
The best part of the sand shrimp to use is the tail so break off the tail just above where it connects to the rest of the shrimp body.
Step 2 - Inserting the Hook
Hold the sand shrimp with the body end towards you and that's where you insert your hook. Try to insert it at a third way down the tail. The hook needs to go lengthwise along the tail because this will help prevent tangled lines.
Step 3 - The Hook Exit
It does not matter where the hook exits, as long as it comes out on the under-surface of the sand shrimp tail. Usually this happens naturally.
Step 4 - Tying the Line
After your hook has exited the sand shrimp tail, take you line and loop it around the body of the shrimp to secure it. Try not to tie the loop too tight to prevent it from slicing the shrimp tail in half.
