Your dog can go outside as they need to and you do not constantly have to take them out. Dog doors are also great for people that work outside the home. Ensure that the dog door is large enough for your pet. Most dog door installation kits will have the door, frames, hinges, a template to cut out, and detailed instructions on installing the door.

Affix the template to the door where you will be installing the door with tape. Then, trace the outline of the template. Make sure that you mark areas of hinges or places where you will be drilling holes.

Using a drill, make a small starter hole in the door. Then, you can use a jigsaw to finishing cutting out the hole for the dog door.

Attach the inside and outside frames with nuts and bolts. It is important to make sure that the frames are both attached securely and that they are straight and properly aligned.

Get your dogs favorite treats and use them to lure your dog through the door. The flap of the door should move without any problems and should remain closed when it is not in use.
