2020 Electric Compact Cars
In the compact car category, the Fiat 500e focuses on providing everything you'd want in a mini. Along with being a well-constructed vehicle with simple yet attractive contours and lines and a range of 150 miles, it is also one of the most affordable EVs on the market. The starting MSRP is $31,600 as of this writing.
2020 Electric Sedans
One of the EVs that set the standard in comfort, easy handling, ample cargo space, and mileage is the Tesla Model 3. The sedan offers models capable of standard range, mid-range, long-range, and long range performance. The standard Model S has a range of 287 miles, the performance model obtains 348 miles, and the long-range can go 373 miles on one charge. Pricing is in the $80,000 range.
If high end luxury is the type of ride you're interested in, the Porsche Taycan is the company's first battery-electric vehicle available as a 4S, Turbo, or Turbo S model. The horsepower for the Turbo S and Turbo ranges from 670 horsepower to 750 horsepower. For mileage, the 4S averages 203 miles, the Turbo at 201 miles, and the Turbo S handles 192 miles. Money-wise, the 4S is the least expensive of the three with a sale price of around $103,000. The estimated price for the Turbo is $150,900 and the S averages $185,000.
2020 Electric Hatchbacks
The Chevrolet Bolt EV has an estimated EPA of 259 miles per charge, which makes the affordable EV stand out from the crowd. 2020 Electric Trucks
Electric vehicle startup Rivian is the only carmaker planning to sell an electric pickup truck this year. The R1T is slated to begin deliveries of its 180-kWh model in late 2020, with a 135-kWh and 105-kWh option coming in the year ahead.
Tesla's taking the opposite track—the tech focused manufacturer says they'll begin selling the entry version of their all electric Cybertruck by the end of 2021, with more powerful models following in 2022.
On the horizon, America's top selling truck, the Ford F-150, will be joining the electrified ranks in the next few years. The company president has announced an electric F-150 is in the pipeline for American roadways. As of this writing, the electric F-150 is tentatively scheduled for release in 2022.
