GE Prototype of World’s Most Efficient High-Output Wind Turbine
Last week GE announced its high-output wind turbine prototype had gone operational at a test site in Wieringermeer, Netherlands. The Turbine utilizes the internet to analyze countless data to allow for optimal management of wind sources as well as forecasting tools. It also uses advanced communication between other turbines for predictable power upkeep on a larger scale. “As the first wind turbine to bring together world-class efficiency and power output at low-wind-speed sites, the 2.5-120 captures a 25 percent increase in efficiency and a 15 percent increase in power output compared to GE’s current model,” stated GE in their March 28th press release. “The turbine’s high efficiency and high output unlock higher returns for wind farm operators at low-wind-speed sites.”
Black & Decker® Launches 24 Volt Cordless String Trimmer/Edger
Black & Decker® announced the release of its 24 volt cordless string trimmer and edger this spring. It promises to make yard tasks quicker and easier than ever before. The trimmer and edger features different settings to allow for a balance between power and energy consumption. “Boost mode provides twice the power of standard 18 volt trimmers, eliminating the consumer’s worry about having enough battery power to get the job done. Our new 24 Volt String Trimmer strikes the right balance between power and task completion because of the innovations like PowerCommand,” says John Weetenkamp, group product manager for outdoor products. “Compared to gas trimmers the 24 volt is much lighter, starts easier, has very low operating costs and releases zero harmful emissions into your yard.”
