It is important to polish granite countertop edges in order to get the finish you desire.

However, it is not as simple as spraying on a little polish with a dusting cloth like you would with a wooden surface.

Once the surface has been polished, you must seal it to keep your desired finish looking fresher for longer.

1. Use a Sander

Use 120 or 150-grit sandpaper, and run it over the edges to smooth them down. Rely on a power sander or sanding block.

To create a smoother finish to the granite countertop edges increase your sandpaper count.

2. Clean and Wash

Ensure the edging is clean by removing all debris before sanding. Use a mild detergent and wipe over the edging.

Also thoroughly clean the surface after sanding and between each stage of polishing. Allow the surface to dry before beginning each stage.

3. Tools

To polish the granite, you will need polish and a granite sealing compound. Polish the surface, following the directions on the packaging.

Allow the polishing compound to dry completely. This will ensure the effect of polish lasts longer.

Then apply the sealing compound as outlined on the container. Ensure it’s completely dried before use.
