Use your screwdriver to remove the cabinet doors from the cabinet face. While the door is off, also remove all the hardware such as pulls, handles, and such.
Step 2 - Give a Good Sanding
One the door is off, you will need to prepare it for the wallpaper. Give it a very light sanding with 100 grit sandpaper. Do not use a power sander as it is too easy to get carried away and take off too much wood. You are just trying to rough up the surface a little bit. This will give the wallpaper glue a place to adhere and not just sit on the surface of the cabinet door.
Step 3 - Measure Door for Wallpaper
Use a tape measure and take measurements for the wallpaper. You do not have to be all that precise as you can trim off any excess.
Step 4 - Cut Wallpaper
After you have the measurements, then you can cut out the wallpaper to length. Use a utility knife on a flat surface for the cutting.
Step 5 - Wash Off Cabinet Door
Use some warm soapy water and wash off the cabinet door of any debris and dust. Rinse it off with clean water and rag. Dry it thoroughly.
Step 6 - Set Wallpaper in Water
Set up a flat container and put some water in it. Place the wallpaper in the water basin. This will activate the glue on the back of the wallpaper.
Step 7 - Set Wallpaper on Door
Pick up the wallpaper from the corners at the top and lift it out of the water. Let the excess water drip off and then place it on the door. Move it around a little to let the glue adhere to the door and then center onto the door itself.
Step 8 - Flatten Wallpaper
Use a stiff brush and float it over the top of the wallpaper. This will get rid of the air bubbles. Move the brush from the center towards the edges. Work your way around the door until it is flat.
Step 9 - Trim Excess
Once the wallpaper has dried out a little and will not move around the door, you can use your utility knife to trim off the excess. The easiest way to do this is to lay the door on its face and run the utility knife along the edge of the door.
Step 10 - Replace Door
Now that your door is redone in wallpaper, it is time to put it back onto the cabinet. Attach the hardware and hinges back onto the door and install it back to the cabinet face.
