Use Furniture to Create the Perfect Backyard Lounge Space

A lot of people are intimidated by the amount of work it could take to design an outdoor space that's comfortable, stylish, and functional. The most important thing to remember is that as long as you select appropriate furniture for your backyard oasis, the rest will easily fall into place.

When you start piecing together your backyard lounge space, keep in mind the main goal for that space, whether it's a place you can gather with friends and family to eat dinner, or somewhere you can sit back and read a good book.

Bistro Table Set

In a small space, a bistro table with two chairs is the perfect place to sit and catch up with a friend or your significant other at the end of the day. It's even a perfect place to sit outdoors and sip coffee while reading the morning news.

Bistro tables come in a range of colors, styles, and shapes, so there's bound to be one that suits your personal taste. Once you find it, you'll be sitting back drinking lemonade and gossiping with a close pal in no time.

Sectional

Outdoor sectionals are perfect for creating the ultimate outdoor lounge space. They're large and cushy, offering enough seating for a whole gang of people to chill. Paired with a few chairs and a matching outdoor coffee table, they make great conversation pits.

Since most sectionals are 90-degree angles, they fit perfectly in corners on a deck or against a fence. Then, throw a few outdoor decorative pillows along it, and you're set to party. They are also super easy to DIY.

Hammock

When imagining the most relaxing setting I can think of for a backyard oasis, I always imagine a hammock. Hammocks are perfect for when you want to take a snooze outside or curl up with your significant other on a starry night.

Classic rope hammocks work great when you have a few trees to tie them to, but you can just as easily find one for sale that comes with its own stand.

Love seat

If you're looking to create an outdoor space that's perfect for you and your special someone to spend some time together, adding a plushy love seat offers just the right amount of space to get cozy.

Pairing up a couple of love seats and a cute little coffee table can comfortably fit into even a small space, so you don't need a big yard to fit it. Tuck them into a corner of the lot and create a private nook.

Chaise Lounge

If you have a spot by the pool, why not add a few chaise loungers along the side? They're the perfect piece of furniture to lay down and soak up some sun or put up an umbrella and sip on cocktails in the shade.

If you don't have a pool, chaise loungers still make super comfortable chairs for those times you want to put up your feet and relax.

Swing

The idea of sitting on a porch swing and watching the kids play out on the front lawn is an idea I am in love with!

Whether you place a swing on your porch or bury it in a nook in your garden, outdoor swings are really fun to sit on. There are also so many different designs and styles of outdoor swings to choose from, too, from patio swings that hang from hooks or from their own stand.

You can even choose swings that look like hammocks or are as big as beds. They also come in a range of materials from wicker to wood, or metal and fabric.

Dining Table

Typically when we think of lounging we think of sitting back all curled up on a comfy couch, but sitting with a group of friends and family, enjoying a meal together, can often be just as relaxing.

If you enjoy eating outdoors, you should definitely add a dining table to your space. Make sure to include an umbrella or gazebo overhead to provide shade when needed. And if you like entertaining, be sure to get a table big enough to fit all your guests!

Outdoor Bed

Think of this outdoor bed as a daybed, but with appropriate outdoor cushions and decorative throw pillows. Having an outdoor bed would be the perfect piece to lay down on and enjoy the summer breeze as you read a novel or even play your favorite game on your phone.

Place your outdoor bed somewhere private, like underneath a tree or surrounded by large plants and flowers, and this spot will for sure become everyone's favorite space to lay down and relax.
