Getting ready to paint cabinets or flooring in your house with a polyurethane finish? Wondering whether to use satin or semigloss paint? You'll be relieved to know that both paints adhere equally well. The difference you'll most likely see will be strictly aesthetic. Your choice should be made on the basis of what appeals most to your tastes.

A semi-gloss finish will reflect more light and more images from the surface you paint. If you like reflected light from your surface and a shiny appearance, you'll be happy with semi-gloss. On the other hand, if you prefer a more natural look, particularly on natural wood grain surfaces, you might prefer the satin finish.
